Garden is a sacred place in Persian culture. This is due to the fact that Iran has always been under threat of invasion by foreigners. Iranshahr is a special name that is mostly found in lyrics, poets and Persian epics. It is a metaphor of walled gardens of Iran. A wall or border that protects Iran from attack of invaders. In other words, it is a paradise which in Farsi is translated to Pardis. Pardis is a popular design in many Persian artworks. Specifically, carpet is one of those cultural objects that is designed by imagination of an artist filled with dreams and hopes of the lost paradise. One can sense the compassion, creativity, love and the spirituality of paradise in Persian carpets.
